What is the Tasmanian Convention Bureau?

The Tasmanian Convention Bureau was established in 1990 as a marketing organisation to secure increased conventions, meetings and incentive travel for Tasmania.

The Bureau is a not for profit organisation and a company limited by guarantee.  It is funded by its statewide membership, State and Local Government and receives co-operative industry support.

What is the role of the TCB?

To market Tasmania as an attractive, viable and competitive destination to the conventions, meetings and incentive travel market.

To maximise the economic benefit of conventions, meetings and incentive travel to the Tasmanian economy and its members, by attracting more delegates and encouraging pre and post conference touring.

To encourage the development of quality convention and incentive products and services to enhance Tasmania’s appeal as a convention destination.

Who should be a member of the TCB?

Any business or organisation deriving a direct or indirect benefit from the promotion of Tasmania as a convention and incentive destination.

The membership base comprises of the following categories; attractions, meeting and accommodation venues, caterers, corporate training experts, professional meeting managers and exhibition organisers, delegate gift suppliers, Tasmanian speakers and local entertainers, touring and transport specialists and staging support.

Levels of Membership

The TCB offers three levels of membership – Gold, Silver and Bronze. 

  • Gold membership is available to any member.
  • Silver membership is available to any member except metropolitan meeting venues, professional meeting managers and interstate carriers.
  • Bronze membership is available to any member except meeting venues, professional meeting managers and interstate carriers.

Accommodation Member Properties

Accommodation members pay a commission to the TCB on all national and international convention, meeting and incentive room revenue at a rate of 1.5% of accommodation room revenue derived from a conference held in-house; or 2% of room revenue derived from a conference held at another property.
