Drunken Admiral Restaurant

Category:

The Drunken Admiral is one of Hobart’s iconic restaurants and is popular with both locals and visitors to Hobart alike. We are a family run restaurant and we have been operating since 1979 offering the diner a truly unique experience and very fresh and tasty Tassie seafood and meals. The restaurant is world renowned, features in many global travel guides and is always popular – so reservations are advised!

Our hosts (Simon & Brierlie) and the Front of House team would be delighted to welcome you to our nautically nostalgic establishment. We are primarily an A La Carte restaurant but we can offer a selection of set menu’s to cater to all needs. We can seat 110 diners at any one time with cosy nooks and crannies everywhere whilst we do have an area where we can comfortably seat a party of up to 45 to dine together.

The restaurant is crammed with maritime memorabilia to delight the diner and excite the enthusiast! With all the history and original artefacts we’re pretty much a museum in our own right. Make sure you have an explore when you and your party come for a visit – there’s lots to check out!

Our head chef (Jamison) and the kitchen team source the freshest of local and interstate seafoods. We also offer a selection of non-seafood, vegetarian and Gluten Free dishes to cater for all tastes and requirements.

Location

We have a fantastic location ideally located in the middle of Hobart’s beautiful waterfront overlooking the local fishing boat moorings. The building itself was built in 1825 and one of the very first to be built on what was originally Hunter Island and is now Hunter Street. The Hunter’s Street Wharf Precinct is a historically rich area which is dense in content that creates links between the very beginnings of British settlement at Hobart and its spread out into the rest of Tasmania, so well worth a visit!

We are ideally located within easy walking distance of Hobart’s main conference centres – we are right next door to the Henry Jones hotel and conference centre, 60 seconds walk across the road from the Grand Chancellor and a short walk from the Hobart Function Centre. There is also lots of parking available just in front of the restaurant.
