- Miriam Way - Event Organiser [Australasian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy]
This was the 10th Underground Operators conference in a series of specialist events hosted by The Australasian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy. Holding it in beautiful Launceston at the Country Club Tasmania where the best conference manager we have experienced was in charge of our event, Troy Armstrong, proved a tremendous success with the best conference of this nature to date. We will definitely consider future events in Tasmania.

Launceston. Tasmania
Wow what a place!!!
I have just completed organising the Australian Dairy Conference in Launceston (19 - 22 February 2008). We gave our conference venue the Hotel Grand Chancellor an impossible task of catering for and accommodating more delegates and trade booths than they have ever had in house.
The Grand Chancellor management and staff were magnificent. I have worked with many venues Australia wide and the Grand Chancellor staff would have to be up there with the best. They dealt with our impossible task with ease and professionalism helping us run a very successful conference.
Launceston is a great place to conference, it has the ability to cater for the small and large functions and it is truly helped by the fabulous staff at the Tasmanian Convention Bureau - Lynda McKay who is a great ambassador for Launceston with a totally professional approach to her job of pitching the city and it's services.
- Robyn Colman [Word Wise]
The conference I helped organise took place in May 2007, very successfully thanks to excellent advice about promotion from the TCB and also advice from our conference manager, Phil Holmes at Convention Wise.
All in all we had a good conference and were very grateful to the Bureau and to Convention Wise for holding our hands through "From inspiration to publication: the third national editors conference".
- Wendy Holland - Conference Coordinator [Parks and Leisure Australia]
Just wanted to let you know that the Parks and Leisure Australia conference held in Tasmania between 9-13 October 2005 was a terrific success. We have received dozens of emails from delegates saying they believed it was the best conference PLA has ever organised. Tasmania was a brilliant venue due to its compact size and laid back, friendly attitude. Many people stayed on for an extra few days or are planning to return with their families. Eric Philips was great. We also used Robyn Moore - I think she was the highlight of the conference for quite a few delegates - would thoroughly recommend both as key note speakers for future conferences.
Thanks again for all of your help!
- Jane Wilson - Conference Coordinator [Cleaning & Restoration Convention - April 2005]
"A comment made by the internationals, guest speakers, delegates & sponsors was the facilities, location and Tasmania in general was fantastic. Our sponsors have been doing shows like this for 10 years plus and said we had the best facilities for our kind of convention they had seen anywhere in Australia. Over half of our delegates stayed for a two-week holiday before or after the convention some stayed a couple of days extra as they had never been to Tassie before."
- Marlene Glenister [Director of Corporate Travel Assistance Pty Ltd]
Thank you so much for all your assistance with the conference which was a huge success! It was so nice of you and your colleagues to take the time to come and have a look at the exhibition. Everyone who attended the conference regarded this conference as the best yet and this was the fourth National Marine Safety Conference - so that is really very pleasing.
I had a marvellous time at Cradle Mountain and Freycinet and can't wait to come back to Tasmania. It is just so beautiful - you are very fortunate!
Again, thank you for all your valuable help and support - it is most appreciated and certainly helped to make the conference such a success.
- Barry Roberts [Rotary District 9800]
Judy and I would like to thank you for your organisation, co-ordination and hospitality, which made our familiarisation visit to Hobart extremely worthwhile. We are now confident that we can close off a number of the important arrangements vital to the success of our Centennial Rotary Conference in March 2005.
We cannot speak highly enough of the support and assistance we have received from the TCB since we first showed interest in holding our conference in Tasmania. We look forward to your ongoing involvement and participation.
